COMING SOON!

WORLD WINE TOUR

TORONTO

(June 23 and 24, 2025)

After the great success of the first two stops of the Ian D’Agata Wine Academy World Wine Tour in NYC and Houston, and the two upcoming, completely sold-out ones in Macau and Shanghai, we are getting ready to go to Toronto, Canada’s largest city and a financial, lifestyle and technological hub.

On Monday June 23 and Tuesday June 24, the Ian D’Agata Wine Academy will be in Toronto to host two days of masterclasses on Italian wines for the city’s wine professionals. These two days will feature a series of masterclasses (90 minutes long) devoted to wines from all of Italy’s regions, but also specific masterclasses devoted to the wines of specific denominations and also of individual wineries that wish to gain more visibility on the local market. A series of dinners will also be organized to allow for a more relaxed encounter between wine professionals, the single wineries, and their owners and winemakers. Ian D’Agata will lead all the masterclasses, but will co-lead a few with some of the city’s most important and well-respected sommeliers, such as Julie Garton, a friend he has known for twenty years and the ex-Wine Director of the Four Seasons hotel group and restaurants and who now holds the same position at Liberty.

As usual, our events are open only to wine professionals and no tickets are sold, such that the general public is not invited. It is our guarantee to the participating wineries that the attendees who will be tasting their wines are people whose life’s work is wine.

About Toronto:

A city of 3 Million people located in the province of Ontario, Toronto is the home of the province’s wine monopoly, the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO), one of the world’s biggest buyers of wine and spirits. Toronto is an exceptionally important wine market for Italian wineries (and in fact, not just Italian wineries): many Italian wine estates export as much as 40% of their annual wine production to Canada, and Ontario and Toronto get the largest part of that.

A world hub of technology, the 2023 Global Ecosystem Report from Startup Genome ranked Toronto 17th in global tech ecosystems. Toronto added 63,800 tech jobs between 2017 and 2022, and with Toronto generating more tech jobs than graduates, the city leads North America in “brain gain.”

Ian D’Agata was born in Toronto and lived there for more than 25 years: he has the largest network of friends who are exceptionally important Canadian wine professionals who work in Toronto’s and Ontario’s most important restaurants and hotels. Ian spends many weeks every year in his native country guiding masterclasses, hosting charity events and running his wine courses. Over the course of his life’s work, Ian has also been honoured by Ontario and Canada with numerous awards, such as the VQA-Out of Ontario Award, for his work done promoting and educating about wine. Unlike Italians who have little or no connection to Canada, ian is extremely well-known there and immensely respected by the local wine professionals, which makes organizing a successful event that will be frequented by local important wine professionals much more likely.
