The 2022 vintage isn’t going to go down in history as one of Barolo’s best ever, but at the end of the day there were some good to excellent wines made. By picking carefully and choosing well, 2022 can offer quite the stash of earlier-drinking Barolos that will give lots of pleasure, bu that should not be taken as the common coin of the vintage. This report, part 2 of a two-part series devoted to the subject (part 1 was published here on the Ian D’Agata Wine Review last week) aims to help you wade through treacherous waters, and that is, allow me, more important than ever before. To allow you to make informed choices in a world in which just about every entry-level wine is now being scored 95 has immense value and it is a job and a calling everybody here at the Ian D’Agata Wine Review takes very seriously. Clearly, we’ll get evaluations wrong too, but we will try our best to do right by you, always. So raise a glass of Barolo with me to having the last laugh.
