Recognized and distinguished, beginning in 2021 with some wines that are classified as “vino de pago” (the highest rating bestowed on Spanish wines, it’s a term that that refers to a single-vineyard wine that expresses unique traits and that is of a higher quality level than anything labeled DO or DOCa), Vera de Estenas is a small family winery dating back to the late nineteenth century that makes some of the country’s most unique white and red wines. Founded in 1945, this highly traditional winery is one of the most important of the little-known Spanish wine region of Utiel-Requena, a Denominación de Origen (or DO) located near the beautiful port-city of Valencia.
