In 2025, Canoe celebrated thirty years of culinary history, making it a unique, landmark, Toronto restaurant in more ways than one. Its longevity is certainly impressive, in a city where the average lifespan of a restaurant at times seems the length of an exhaled breath. And why should it not have survived and continued to be packed on a daily and nightly basis? The view from its 54th-floor location in the downtown TD bank tower is amazing (arguably the city’s best); the design and décor are spot-on; the internal vibe is at once trendy, cool and upscale; the service impeccable; the food extremely good and the wine list noteworthy. I mean, what’s there not to like? I have been coming here since the beginning in the 1980s and Canoe is still today not just one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto, but of the world. So yes, this is one dining establishment I really like.
