Ian D’Agata Wine Academy Autumn 2025 and 2026 World Tour

Unlike other wine writers, who have mostly concentrated on wine writing for various magazines and newsletters, Ian D’Agata has always had a parallel approach to his work in wine, with wine writing and wine education being equally important. In fact, anybody who has read Ian’s many wine articles written over the years, or his many ward-winning books , is well aware of the educational approach he applies to his wine communication in all instances.

Ian has been been involved in wine education for over twenty years, and with his Ian D’Agata Wine Culture company he aims to not just continue do that, but to empower this action further. Like he has done in the past, Ian takes his masterclasses and wine shows in cities all over the world, important wine markets that function as points of sale and wine promotion, cities that are absolutely vital to spread the word about wine and increase wine culture in general.

It is with great pleasure that we confirm the cities where we Ian shall be holding wine shows and masterclasses this autumn 2025 and throughout 2026, continuing our educational mission in favor of great Italian and other world wines through a series of masterclasses, wine shows, wine dinners, and grand tastings in cities such as NY, Shanghai, and Toronto. Ian D’Agata and our entire team are at your disposal to help you achieve the best and attain the success you deserve.

To know and Frequently Asked Questions

Our events around the world are open only to authentic local wine professionals (sommeliers, restaurateurs, importers, wine merchants, bloggers, journalists, wine directors, hotel and hospitality managers). In some cases, private individuals are also invited, almost always major collectors with genuine purchasing power. In other words, tickets are not sold to events in a way that involves the general public. That is not our target. Our goal has always been the same: to better introduce the great grape varieties and great wines of the world, the companies that produce them, and the territories where they are born, through truly expert and not boring communication that effectively helps wine find new markets. And all this to a group of professionals who can truly promote your wines well, having acquired better knowledge in the field.

All of this cannot happen, and will not happen, unless it is through the organization of really well-curated wine shows and credible presentations of grape varieties, wines, territories, and the companies themselves by an expert or authentic experts, universally recognized as such. Passing a generic wine exam does not make anybody a wine expert, and those sitting in a class or hotel room know that; in case they don’t, just listening to an individual speaking will make them immediately aware of that fact. Our events are an effective blend of wine shows with walk-around tastings, masterclasses, wine dinners, and more. Furthermore,  we know that we often bring concrete results to the companies and wineries that trust us (you can find the description of each format further down). Our team will always give their best to help you conquer new market niches in the metropolises we will visit at the end of 2025 and throughout 2026. The chosen cities represent very important markets for wines from all over the world, and we need to approach all of them together in an intelligent and constructive manner.

Explanation of the program and formats of Wine Shows and Masterclasses

Since 2000, Ian D’Agata has organized and/or co-organized tasting events around the world with his team. These events take the form of days divided into wine shows and masterclasses (with classic walk-around tastings and individual corporate booths, along with a series of masterclasses), or just masterclasses. Both formats can include wine dinners.

Wine Shows and Masterclass Formats: Wine shows involve the presence of a representative from the participating companies at the classic individual/ company-specific booth (or at most, staff from their local importer). At the same time, these days feature a series of thematic masterclasses led by Ian D’Agata; each with a maximum of 8-12 wines. All participating companies with a booth at the wine show will have one of their wines included in themed masterclasses. Except for rare, specific exceptions, these masterclasses are reserved for those wineries with a stand. However, one or two individual wineries (at most) that not participating in the wine show can be the subject of dedicated masterclasses that are distinct from those associated with the wineries present at the wine show. For wineries that wish to do so, it is also possible to organize wine dinners with the presence of local wine professionals.

Masterclass Format Only: The masterclass format has the advantage of being less costly for wineries (there is no company booth, and in fact, the presence of the owner/company staff is not necessary, so that they may choose to send only their wines, which will be explained by Ian D’Agata. That said, winery owners and staff are always welcome!). The masterclass format communicates the wine of each company in a more focused manner and concentrates the attention of the professionals in the room during the hour and a half available. For this reason, to ensure maximum attention and learning regarding each single wine being tasted, the territory, and the company, the number of wines in each masterclass is limited to a maximum of fourteen wines (though eight to ten is the more usual number).

This format is successful primarily due to the presence of Ian D’Agata, an award-winning author who leads the tastings and is universally recognized and appreciated around the world, and arguably the world’s single most credible and important living Italian wine expert today.

Format tasting moment with consumers: a smaller format that we generally do not use as much, but we do use it in smaller wine cities and markets where there are many small importers who buy and resell wine mainly to high end consumers/private clients.

Format wine dinner: this normally involves small quality dinners at important local wine bistros and restaurants, with a maximum of 10 guests to better familiarize with the wines and the company through a moment of greater focus and all the attention of the guests (sommeliers, importers, etc. – selection also depends on company targets).
