After almost thirty years in wine education and communication, Ian D’Agata has launched his own wine magazine and wine school, both of which carry his name, respectively the Ian D’Agata Wine Review and the Ian D’Agata Wine Academy.
Over the years, D’Agata written for numerous wine magazines and taught at many wine schools. D’Agata has written for the Gambero Rosso, was an editor for Stephen Tanzer and his prestigious International Wine Cellar, a Contributing Editor at Decanter, the Senior Editor at Vinous and the Editor-in-Chief of the TerroirSense Wine Review. Wine schools he either taught at or established include the International Wine Academy of Roma where he worked with Steven Spurrier who was at the time the International Wine Academy of Roma President (Spurrier and D’Agata would later team up at Decanter as well), the Vinitaly International Academy (which he left six years ago and with which he is neither involved nor wants to be involved with in any capacity), the 3iC school of Barolo and the TerroirSense Wine Academy in Shanghai, China.
The Ian D’Agata Wine Review is a wine magazine that will cover all the major wine areas of the world, with a special focus on Italy’s great wines and its native grapes. The new vintages of Barolo, Barbaresco, Brunello, Bordeaux, Alsace, Burgundy, Champagne and other important wines will be covered each year, with numerous other articles devoted to those important wine areas and many others.
The Ian D’Agata Wine Academy will offer courses focusing on Italian wines and those of other countries as well: these courses will feature a series of masterclasses broaching specific wine topics and will be held all over the world, including new York City, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, Denver, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, London, Tokio, Singapore, Taipei, Shanghai, Shenzhen. Chengdu, Beijing and many other still. D’Agata’s numerous award-winning books will be featured as course textbooks. The calendar of courses and programs will be available here shortly.
