Barolo New and Recent Releases: Excellent 2021s, Underrated 2020s and Currently Quizzical 2019s, Part 2

by Ian D’Agata

The onslaught of great Barolos continues, with some truly memorable wines, including two more (the third and fourth) 100 point wines to appear in this three-part series on the new and recent vintages of Barolo. Who do you think got those two perfect scores in this article and which wines? To help you guess, consider that this time I have written up only wineries the names of which begin with the letter C through L (included), though we do have one winery beginning with an A and one at B that didn’t make it in the part 1 article published last week.

But perfect scores aside, there are many truly exciting wines to be had, and my hope is this review will help you enjoy many wines of wineries you might not even know yet. As an added bonus, in this specific section of the article I have also included some especially good Favorita, Dolcetto, Barbera and Pelaverga Piccolo wines that seemed just too good to leave out.

The third and last part of this very long three-part series on Barolo will be published this coming Wednesday, December 4. And keep an eye out on my annual 100 Best Italian Wines of the Year article, that will be published this coming Monday, December 2, where you will get a partial insight on what other great wines await in part 3 of the Barolo article, as some of those wines have made it in my Best 100 Wines of the Year list.

Cheers!
