Maoz Alonim used to run Basta, a well-regarded restaurant in Tel Aviv’s Carmel Market prior to moving to the United Kingdom (in following and supporting, like any good husband, his wife’s academic career opportunities). He reportedly still maintains a minority share in Basta, but that didn’t stop him from opening what proved to a very successful pop-up in Cambridge. He has since followed this up with the just as successful Chapel Market Kitchen, a mostly seafood restaurant featuring oysters, a raw bar and grill. Located in north London’s Islington area at the Penton Street end of the Chapel Market road, Chapel Market Kitchen (Oyster Bar & Grill) is a fun and cozy dining spot, and boasts, besides good food, an exceptionally erudite wine list (more on this later).
