Already back in the days in which Venice ruled the Mediterranean Sea, the Antica Bottega del Vino (then known as Osteria Lo Scudo di Francia) was serving great food and wines to all those in Verona and elsewhere who know a good thing when they saw, smelled and tasted it. Though the Antica Bottega lived through a time in which it was selling bulk Soave wine and not serving food, things returned to normality in 1957 when the Rizzo-Grigolo family bought it and turned it once again in a full-fledged dining destination. Already then it was, and still is, an iconic restaurant that does everything fantastically well: you’ll have a hard time having a better, more satisfying meal than you will here. In 2010, the restaurant was bought from the Pascucci-Barzan family by the Famiglie Storiche, the association of high-quality Valpolicella and Amarone producers that counts most of the denomination’s best estates among its members, with few exceptions (Quintarelli, Dal Forno, very few others); if possible, the Antica Bottega has gotten even better since then. Today’s in house team, guided by restaurant manager Luca Nicolis, chef Luca Dalla Via and head Sommelier Simone Isoli, ensure that the good times just keep rolling.
